Malden Overcoming Addiction is pleased to announce that our MOA scholarship program will now be called the Dom DiSario Scholarship Program.
For the last four years Malden Overcoming Addiction has sponsored a scholarship program to support those in recovery. The scholarship supports people in need of sober living which can be extremely costly in many cases. Those in need of a placement often don't have sufficient funds to pay the costs at the time of entry. The scholarship program serves as a lifeline.
The birth of the scholarship program can be directly linked to the heart and soul of MOA, our late friend and colleague Dom Disario. Dom passed away last year after a valiant and spirited battle against cancer. Dom served on the Board of Malden Overcoming Addiction as our Treasurer and was the leader and catalyst in our fundraising efforts to support the scholarship program, among many other endeavors. Dom was a giant among us. His steadying voice of reason, coupled with his relentless optimism always helped us focus our priorities as a Board; help those in recovery and celebrate the successes.
A man of few words, Dom led his life with positivity, integrity and humility. He saw the good in all people and gave strength and guidance to so many.
For that and many other reasons our scholarship program will now be called the Dom DiSario Scholarship Program. All funds donated to the program will go directly to those in need of a recovery bed.
